Ann Curry
Ann Curry is a photojournalist, journalist and author who has reported on areas of war for over more than 45 years. Her focus is on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry has covered wars across the world, including in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry is a journalist, television anchorperson and reporter she was born 1956. Her parents met while their father was in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. Her father was in the military and her family had to move around often. The family eventually settled in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. Following her graduation from the University of Oregon, Curry earned a bachelor of journalism in 1978. It is possible that she created an empathic manner of communication because of her experiences with diverse cultures in her early years. Her broadcasting career began as an internship at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. At age 22, she eventually became the first journalist female at that station. In the following years, she worked as an anchor/reporter for KGW located in Portland Oregon. Then she returned to Los Angeles four years later as a journalist for KCBS TV. In her time with the station she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
